Having wound up a successful and somewhat exhausting trip (LA, SF, Palo Alto, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver and Las Vegas), I’ve spent the last two weeks decompressing in Sitges, a little beach town just south of Barcelona. There’s been a lot to process.
The next stage of the journey involves getting the first version of the microclub.org website up and running, which I’m making steady progress on (albeit crabwise). The plan is to open membership in stages - the first cohort (who I’ve signed up, albeit informally) will be a small group of coders who can test out the workflow of creating microhacks. Once the site is working well enough, we’ll look at how to gradually increase membership. And as soon as I can, I’ll create a “friends of microclub” public section of the site where people can keep track of our activities.
In the meantime, I’m going to resume posting on this substack, but with a reduced frequency - I’m thinking once or twice a week. There’ll be a mix of topics - updates on progress, conceptual investigations of the “endpoints” variety, and more thoughts on the evolving nature of the project of “building a new kind of computer”.
Thanks for being with me on the journey!
